Hummingbird Mother

Standing in the water,

Praying to the Mother,

A hummingbird hovered

In front of me.

She danced in dynamic stillness

Listening to my melody.

Our eyes met,

Not for the first time.

She, a giant,

Dwarfed by her bird body.

And I, her great granddaughter,

Also made small

By the common concept of time.
