About

Catherine Brooks pulls story threads through depths of time, reviving ancient myths and deities. She is a weaver of words and images, creating at the crossroads of spirituality, psychology, mythology, ecology, and embodiment. Through poetry, fiction, and essays, Catherine explores the mysteries of the unconscious and the Great Mysteries of sex + birth, death + reincarnation. Her previous bodies of artwork in print, constructed paintings, and performance addressed embodied symbology.

 

Catherine is a doctoral student of depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and trained in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy. She has B.A. and M.F.A. degrees in printmaking and worked for over a decade in the arts as a master printer. She has taught, consulted, and lectured in Bulgaria, France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Peru, Qatar, and throughout the United States. Additionally, Catherine has extensive experience in international exchange and public diplomacy through her roles for the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

 

Catherine Brooks is the author of the book, Magical Secrets About Line Etching and Engraving, the Step-by-Step Art of Incised Lines (2007), as well as many writings on art, travel, motherhood, and feminine spirituality.

 

Catherine lives in Boulder, Colorado.
