Linden Intoxication

My lover comes each summer
Wearing a golden cloak
Of fragrant blossoms.

I brave bee stings
And abrasions
To climb into his broad arms.

Tilia cortada,
Tangled in long verdant limbs,
I taste his heart-shaped leaves
And greedily harvest his flowers.

Linden intoxication,
July rains will come
And wash away the evidence
Of our passions.
