AUTOEROTIC AUTOPOIETIC EARTH

Electromagnetic radiation erupted from the Sun
As it gazed upon the hypnotizing swirl of jewel blue Earth.
Night turned to day.

A solar storm warmed the terran face of the planet.
Sweat poured from pores of wells
And vapor collected into tall, fat clouds.

Sky flashed. Earth rumbled and cracked.
Rain fell in sheets,
Returning moisture to the ground.

The trees raised their boughs, waving in devotional praise.
Leaf and needle channeled water down to fern and moss.
Wren and wasp, too, were fed.

A stream formed,
Dividing the dirt,
Winding through the forest seeking river.

River gave thanks and rushed,
With great hydraulic force,
Pulled by gravity’s prograde tumble.

When river found its end, it also found its beginning.
Water poured into water.
Sweet met salt.

The gray eye of the sea stared up at the Sun and rolled back.
Her fluid body rippled with laughter
Then sighed with satisfaction.

The world was once again renewed.
Autoerotic, autopoietic Earth
Pleases and recreates herself.
